Aunt Danielle 2nd July 2011

For Ocean Star, and Ken and Naomi You were named Ocean Star so you’d never be far from those hearts who so longed to embrace you. So we’d listen to water for a splash of your laughter And in the sky’s sparkles we’d trace you. Though your body was little it made an impression like a footprint in morning’s new sand. It faded too quickly but your presence returns to us like the gentle waves lapping the strand. As the years come upon us we’ll imagine your presence among any kids playing Pretend, With them you’ll be doctor or teacher or astronaut or Mommy or even best friend. And we’ll speak to you sometimes from our innermost parts to remind you that once we had plans, And we’ll entrust ourselves to you, to your precious young soul, and rest burdens in your tiny hands. Wait for us Welcome us Keep your ears open.... We’re only a whisper away. In seconds we can reach across oceans for you or beyond our own vast Milky Way... To bring you back into the crook of our arms To touch our lips to your sweet head. To the moment when our lives together began. When our souls were so totally wed.
